Pussy Riot will Serve 2 Years in Prison, Over 1 Year at Labor

This afternoon Moscow time Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, Maria Alyokhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich were sentenced to two years in a labor camp because they sang for 30 seconds in church.

It is a new low in Russian barbarism.

The trio will serve their time starting March 4, 2012 (Russian-language link) and get double credit for each day of pretrial detention, meaning that just over 1 year will be at labor. The sentence was imposed for their “crime” of “hooliganism” and “homosexual propaganda.”

Everyone knows that if they had been singing Putin’s praises, they would not be going to a labor camp. To the contrary, the’d probably be featured on national TV and get a record contract.

Everyone knows that if they had been singing in a mosque, synagogue or protestant temple, they would never been been arrested.  Nobody would have cared.

But because they appeared in an Orthodox Church and criticized Putin, they do two in prison.  This includes two mothers with young children.

Just a few months ago, idiotic MSM journalists like Miram Elder and Julia Ioffe were breathlessly reporting that Russia had been “changed forever” by the protest demonstrations organized by Alexei Navalny. Now, not only have those protests entirely dissipated but Navalny himself is on his way to prison, maybe a cell right next to Pussy Riot or Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Russia has not changed. The vast majority of Russians will not bat an eyelash at the incarceration of these young artists, who now must spend what will seem to them to be a lifetime behind bars.  Indeed, many will cheer.  Hardly any will go to the streets to demand justice.

And so Russia’s fate is sealed. It will go the way of the USSR.

NOTE:  This post has been revised to indicate that the trio will serve a total of about 1.5 years years in prison, one at labor, not two-and-a-half  years total with two at labor as originally reported. It appears that Pussy Riot will get credit for two days [Russian-language link] of sentence time for each day of pretrial detention, so in fact they only need to serve a little over one more year behind bars, assuming no parole.

nobody allowed to break great khan’s authority as Pussy Riot did

  2. Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

In fact they will serve two years including half a year they have already served since their arrest. That’s what the verdict says.

    • larussophobe ⋅

Oh that is good news! Can you provide some links to that?

      • Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

Well, as far as I know it impicitly follows from the criminal code of Russia. But if you want it to be stated explicitly here is a link. It’s in Russian though. It’s said that time counts from March 4, 2012, the date of their arrest. http://lifenews.ru/news/99685

Thanks! We updated our post accordingly.

            My pleasure.

            • larussophobe ⋅

Actually we just learned is even better, because they will get two days of credit for each pretrial detention day. So they should be out in late 2013. Conveniently they will avoid being in prison for Sochi games.

              • Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

No, wait a minute, that is not true. I’ve done a little research on that.

              • Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

Two days of credit for each pretrial day rule is only applicable in case of pretrial home confinement. Since Tolokonnikova et.al. were kept under arrest they have one day per day.

                • larussophobe ⋅

That does not make sense, why would you get double credit for easy time at home but no double credit for hard time in jail?

              • Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

Criminal Code of Russian Federation. Here is the link (in English): http://legislationline.org/download/action/download/id/1697/file/0cc1acff8241216090943e97d5b4.htm/preview

Article 72. Calculation of the Terms of Punishment and Set-off of Punishment. Subsection 3.

                3. The time of custody pending the trial shall be counted in terms of deprivation of liberty, service in a disciplinary military unit, or arrest at the rate of one day for one day, of restraint of liberty at the rate of one day for two days, of corrective labour and restriction in military service at the rate of one day for three days, and the time of compulsory works at the rate of one day of custody for eight hours of compulsory works.

                • larussophobe ⋅

No that says it is one day for two days when liberty is restrained in jail, one day for one day in military.

                  • Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

                    Deprivation of liberty,
service in a disciplinary military unit,
or arres = 1 day for 1 day.

Restraint of liberty = 1 day for 2 days.

                    In terms of russian code:
                    Deprivation of liberty means jail.

Restraint of liberty means no jail. It means home arrest or electronic monitoring.

They will absolutely have one day for one day. There is no doubt about that.

  3. Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

in other words 1.5 years more from now.

  4. Again: Deeply regret to inform you that Democracy in Russia is infinitely more receptive to the will of the Russian people than to the will of the West and its useless parrots. A popular tribunal would have rightly locked them up in a monastery forever 🙂

    Keep on yapping, stupid idiots.

What people do you have on your mendacious mind, Herr Wuderschwanz?

A two weeks ago the DEGENERATE British schmata, The Guardian has produced the video of Putin visiting Sibiria as an illustration to the tittle of article “Why You Shouldn’t Kiss Putin’s Hand”.

While the Sibirian officials were shaking their boss’ and idol’s hand the local pop bended deeply and was about to kiss Putin hand when the watazhka himself rebuked him with the strong hand gesture “…pashol von”!…”

Are you speaking about such slaves like that above mentioned pop?

Of course such brainwashed, confused, terrified people will accept anything that their GOD Wlad the Bloody Puitn will do.

That has nothing to do with a true democracy.

And finally, the sentence received by the punkos seem to be rather too harsh but not excessively so…

  5. mingthemerciless ⋅

If they had sung in a Mosque…there would NOT have been any disturbance…just a few more dead Russian girls…not that they will fare much better in Mon Freddie Fred’s jails…just that them Bolsheviks are more hypocritical…You dont really expect Navalny and Khodorkovsky to be alive next year, do you?

    • Manfred Steifschwanz ⋅

      Hopefully not.

      • Bogdan from Aussie ⋅

Herr Weicheschwanz, you won’t be alive as well as the prices of oil and gas shall fall below 50$ per barrel and the Putin’s DEGENERATE regime will have no DJENGI to feed the PARASITES like yourself…

Humour department, courtesy of Kim and Bogdan:

I’m dreaming of a nude Zigfeld
        With horny Bogdan underneath
        Where his pee-pee glistens
        And Russia listens
To hear burst his little sheath

(NB: Bogdan’s knowledge of biology is roughly on a par with Bohdan’s of maths — hence his silly use of a sheath to shag-the-hag).

        • Bohdan ⋅

Face the facts you piece of lying and foul mouthed communist trash, comrade Stasi jackass. It is your brainless stupidity that excels in all areas of soviet propaganda junk.

Like I’ve said on numerous occasions, do not judge me by your own stupidity. I know it comes naturally to you comrade goon. Similarly your mathematics, corresponds to absence of brains and this will never alter.

Since these spawns from hell tend to eat each others…witness the 20,000 terror attacks by muslims mostly directed at other muslims (www.thereligionofpeace.com) or nearly all gulag victims being good communists like Mon Fred here…I’m waiting with bated breath for the arrest of Vladimir Zhirinovsky under some frivolous pretext…
Looking for a picture of the other Vlad…look what I find:

An objective look at another “protest” that’s gone far too far and should meet with a really harsh penalty.

I have just visited the blog called http://www.englishrussia.com (one of my favourites) and there is a report about another group of crazy feminists FEMEN destroying the cross (a Catholic one) in Kiev dedicated to the victims of WW2.

In the past I used to sympathise mildly with the group’s objective of protecting sexually exploited women in the countries of former Soviet block albeit rejecting their methods of protest.

The above mentioned act has destroyed any shred of the positive feelings that I’ve held for them.

I can only hope that the Ukrainian authorities will deal with this act of an incomprehensible vandalism accordingly as it is much worse and barbaric of anything the Pussy Riot has done.

My outrage has nothing to do with the fact that the cross is a Catholic one. It would be as relevant if it was any Orthodox religious symbol, of course.

    Greetings from Aussie

  9. mingthemerciless ⋅

You know Poot Poot’s KGB-FSB have been extremely active in the Ukraine, to the point of practically having taken over just about everything…

I would highly suspect this bitch of being a russian whore assigned the job of discrediting the Femen movement, who are very anti-Putin and anti-communist.

I can see Mon Freddie snickering in his crab filled beard(picture stinking Karl Marx filthy mane and muslim like beard)

I never seen a tree getting cut so idiotically, without the ropes, she would have got the cross falling on her dumb blond’s head…half the beavers get killed by their own falling tree, just like that stupid kgb cunt!

Ming, cut out the psychobabble and prove at least some of your merciless capabilities, now that the miserable Ukro has finally given up:

A right-angled triangle the hypotenuse of which equals 10 length units comprises a square whose side equals 3 length units. Hence, one of the square’s diagonals starts in the right-angled corner of the triangle (as an angle bisector) and ends on its hypotenuse. Calculate the two other sides in the triangle.

  11. Rare_F5_Twister ⋅

Finally today another blog confirms my concern about inapplicability of the one-for-two days rule in case of Pussy Riot: http://ilja-nikiforov.livejournal.com/141341.html

Iosif Diskin, who is quoted here under the title “Vzveshenniy prigovor” (Balanced verdict), is incompetent.

LR should rectify this post once again.

  12. mingthemerciless ⋅

I suppose the KGB cunt with the tits out was trying to resolve Mon Freddie trigo problem with her chainsaw…too bad it did not bounce back into her guts, spilling her intestines all over!

What does your hypotenuse got to do with anything, Freddie Fred?

You need your belly button pulled out!

    Communist newspeak IS nonsensical babble…moron!

  14. In truth, nobody cares that they did it in an Orthodox church, except that the church is intertwined with the Russian power structure and Russians respect power.

    • Dmitry

Nobody cares she danced in a mosque without covering her skin and hair, to protest against muslims offending women, except that mullas that are interwined with the British power structures, and British respect power.

Nobosy cares he sprayed a graffiti on the Western wall, to protest against Izraelis offending muslims, except that the rabbinate is interwined with the Izraeli power structure, and Izraelis respect power.

Nobody cares she danced at a soleas, to protest against Putin, except that the church is intertwined with the Russian power structure, and Russians respect power.

Nobody cared he danced on interments at the Arlington cemetery, to protest against the war in Iraq, except that the US Army is interwined with the elites of the US, and Americans respect power.

Nobody of the people above actually hurt anyone, did they? It’s all about the authorities, sure.

  15. mingthemerciless ⋅

And that catholic cross chopping in Kiev, Ukraine by a supposed Femen highly smell of a dirty trick by a Putin provocateur to discredit BOTH the Feman and Pussy Riot!

No much goes on in Russia’s Ukraine colony now without Pooty Poot’s permission! Watch the Femen “disappear” one by one into Vlad’s Bolshevik ether…If Stalinovitch Putin’s puppet Yanukovich can wipe out
Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, what can a few girls with tits out do?

    • Manfred Steifschwanz ⋅

And what can a drooling little kid like yourself do except submitting a cascade of smelly blog barfs, mon petit?

Ming, and, being a faithful catholic, would you send your children to sing in a church choir before they turn 10? Otherwise, they may be just too old for some ceremonies, don’t you think?

Am I the only person here missing a story about how the brave British army storms the Ecuadorian embassy?

Might well call it Operation “Loose Pussy”. To honor both freedom of press in the UK, and, um, pussy.

Dating a Russian girl is a wonderful experience for everybody. Russian females are charming and sociable. They are excellent housewives. They rank family and motherhood first. They are well-educated. Nearly all Russian women have a university or college education. They are good at many things and highly respect the traditions. Therefore, before striking up a close relationship, men should learn a few important things about Russian culture and traditions. It is necessary to discover some facts about the country, its history, politics and religion. This will indicate that you are full of serious intentions and are genuinely interested in the world around your potential girl-friend or spouse…
