Russia Today gives up on Journalism

Over on the powerful and influential American Thinker blog, LR publisher and founder Kim Zigfeld reports on how the Kremlin’s propaganda network Russia Today has given up all pretense of journalism and accuracy and given itself wholly over to militant lies in support of Putin’s cause in Ukraine. A big part of its content in this regard, of course, is virulent anti-Americanism.

Michael McFaul, the former U.S. Ambassador to Russia, has announced a boycott of Russia Today because he is so appalled by the gross distortions it is publishing, and many others have joined him. RT’s Marina Buinovskaya ‏ admits that it has become extremely difficult for the network to book foreign interviews.

  1. America is clearly the Honesty and Fairness… LMFAO. Yes, we hate ourselves. We thought you’re better people with more freedom. We believed in freedom of speech in US. But you kept demonizing us. Truth about Wahl is revealed. Enjoy yourselves in hope we are dead.

You apparently did not read the article. It quotes Russia Today’s editor in chief admitting that she is waging war, not practicing journalism, and she’s proud of it. As such, it’s impossible for Russia Today to carry out its function, supposedly bringing the truth about Russia to English speakers. Now, they all know they are not getting truth but instead propaganda.

Your claim that US media is as biased as Russian media is laughable. Many different private companies control the US media, which routinely and viciously attacks the government. Just look at how FOX talks about Obama, and how MSNBC talked about Bush! There’s nothing like that on mainstream Russian TV, and Putin is acting to liquidate everything at the margins, like DOZHD for example.

You sound exactly like someone from Soviet times, claiming the USA is just as biased as the USSR, and that the USSR would last forever. Then it collapsed, and the same will happen to Russia if it does not change course.

    Russification of Ukraine

Being accused of using the “Skrypnyk alphabet” – in other words, using Ukrainian Cyrillic letters instead of Russian ones – could lead to arrest or death. The purges nearly halved the membership of the Ukrainian communist party, and purged Ukrainian political leadership was largely replaced by the cadre sent from Russia that was also largely “rotated” by Stalin’s purges.[6]
